Blog Post #3 : How can cell phones affect our self-esteem.

" You can't touch it, but it affects how you feel. You can't see it, but it's there when you look at yourself in the mirror. You can't hear it, but it's there every time you talk about yourself. What is this important but mysterious thing? It's your self-esteem!" Self-Esteem is the basis of our confidence . Having high self-esteem is like having a "COKE" because when you have "COKE" you "CAN OPEN YOUR HAPPINESS". Well, basically saying, having high-self esteem tend people to see their happiness in their life and achieve more goals. While having low self-esteem strips off our confidence. It's like smoking, once you smoke you'll smoke forever unless you're determined to stop it. Having low self-esteem widens your thinking capacity but limits your actions. How? It's just simple, for example, you want to recite in a class, since you have low self-esteem you will probably think that your answer is wrong so you will not recite because you think you will be embarrass in the class. These conclusion that came up in your mind became your navigator of your life that you will always follow because you know that it's true.

There are many thing that can affect your self esteem. One of them are Cell phones. How? By cyber bullying. Some people are to sensitive that they can be offended  with these things. Some people who are doing this are not aware of what will be the effects of their actions to others. So I tried to research about it and I will share this things to you.

According to Sameer Hinduja, Ph.D. and Justin W. Patchin, Ph.D. "In our research involving approximately 2,000 randomlyselected middle-schoolers from one of the largest school districts in the United States, cyberbullying victims and offenders both had significantly lower self-esteem than those who have not experienced cyberbullying. This relationship persisted even while controlling for gender, race, and age, though our results suggest that males, nonWhites, and older middle-schoolers tend to have lower levels of self-esteem than their peers. Based on the standardized regression coefficients and percent of variance explained, the relationship between cyberbullying victimization and self-esteem is stronger than that of cyberbullying offending and self-esteem."

People who have been cyber bullied have the tendency to lower their self-esteem. Maybe the person will blame their looks, personalities etc... They may think that "why do people judge me like that" or "what if I didn't look this way". As what I have stated a while ago. when you have low self-esteem you will have a wider thinking capacity. And this are just one of the cause of why do people have low-self esteem.
